Feminist Library Looking for Volunteer Cataloguers

According to a news item in Managing Information, the Feminist Library is looking for volunteers:

The Feminist Library is still looking for volunteers, both for regular weeknight cataloguing sessions and Saturday opening hours. Email the team at feministlibraryappeal@gmail.com if you are interested in volunteering, or offering your services in some other way, or at other times. (Feminist Library: new opening hours. Managing Information, 13 April 2007, accessed 19 April 2007).

Based on Westminster Bridge Road, the Library houses an archive of the women's liberation movement, much of it dating from the late 1960s and 1970s and has been under threat of closure since 2003. The current management committee has agreed to keep it open until February 2008 after which time a home may need to be found within a larger collection.

This is an opportunity to become part of a volunteer team trying to save a special collection and, in any case, to document it ahead of any changes.

More information is available on the Library's myspace site and / or you can register your interest by contacting feministlibraryappeal@gmail.com
