every picture tells a story

A blog needs a photo of the blogger - or so I'm told by those who know.  Well, the office has a million photos of me - a splendid chap called Martin comes round from time to time to take snaps of the CILIP staff - but the question is: which one to use?  The serious face of a Chief Executive you can trust?  The cheerful features of "Beaming Bob"?  The casual, approachable look - shirtsleeves and a cup of tea in hand?  Or your dedicated servant, hard at work at his desk?  Martin says I've got a face which can't help smiling - so I've gone for a cheery (cheesy?) grin.  Tell me if you'd like something else ...

An interesting point. Take warning from someone I once worked with who insisted that his photo on the institutional website be changed to one he had had taken. Turned out to be the one he was also using on internet dating sites. There was a stampede to soulmates and craigslist to look at it and mock.
