gym’n slim
I’m told (by those who know) that the idea of this blog is for me to tell you something about the stuff that crosses my desk – on the assumption, of course, that you’re interested. One thing which is currently preoccupying me at my desk and beyond is the foolhardy commitment I made to the Career Development Group at Umbrella in June – to lose ten percent of my body weight in a Sponsored Slim to raise funds for prison libraries in Zambia. CDG Council meets on the 19th of November and that’s the deadline date by which I have to make (or rather, lose) the weight. It’s a good cause and you can find out more at www.careerdevelopmentgroup.org.uk/impact.
I’m following the traditional eat-less-and-exercise-more approach and I’ve lost seven percent to date – so that’s another three percent to lose in the next couple of weeks. Luckily, I actually like going to the gym and it’s a great stress-buster. Exercise is excellent for equanimity. So the Sponsored Slim is a win-win, helping your Chief Executive to stay healthy and providing much-needed help for libraries in Africa. Feel free to make your contribution by downloading the sponsorship form and sending in a pledge. We’re working on a Gift Aid web site and I’ll let you know when that’s up and running (or cycling, or rowing, or some other form of cardio vascular weight-loss activity …)
