Gym fixed it for me!
Regular readers of this blog will know that I’ve been counting down the days to the weigh-in for my CDG Sponsored Slim in support of Zambian prison libraries. The challenge was to lose 10 per cent of my body weight (from the distinctly chunky 111.1 kilo when I was weighed at the CDG AGM at the end of June) by the meeting of CDG Council on 19 November.
And the result? I weighed in at a slender 96.5 kilo, a weight loss of 14.6 kilo, which is a 13.1 per cent reduction of my body weight since June! So, yes I made the weight and yes (oh yes) I feel pretty good about that.
After the ritual photographs with the whole of CDG Council clustered closely around me to bring body warmth to my skinny frame, the question loomed large – how did I do it?
So, what’s the secret of the McKee method for achieving major weight loss? Er …. Fewer calories in and more calories out. Drink like a Puritan, eat like a Spartan, exercise like an Olympian. Dump those diet books, get down the gym and jog/ cycle/ row/ cross train 600 calories every session four or five times a week. Every week. Then turn wine into water and eat shoots and leaves. Sorry, but there is no alternative.
So I’ve shed lots of pounds (around 32 lb if my mental kilo-to-pound converter is accurate) and now it’s your turn. CDG are still collecting for the Zambian prison libraries project so go to their website http://www.careerdevelopmentgroup.org.uk and donate a few pounds.
Me, I’m going to the pub for a curry and a few pints – well, I’ve got to build up again for my next Sponsored Slim!
