Has the world gone mad?! Part two...

Sarah Palin?! Now that the chips are down, McCain plays his ace - she's young, she's female, she comes from Alaska, she's got a full-on family life, she's politically incorrect, she's got next-to-no government experience, she'll be a heartbeat away from replacing a septenagarian with a history of needing medical treatment...

I don't know what to think about Sarah Palin - although if I had a pregnant teenage daughter and a young son with Down's Syndrome I'm not sure I'd want to put them in the media spotlight that comes with high political office.

But what about this for a comment on Sarah Palin. In today's Times and written by a women columnist: "I love her beehive hairdo and glasses, the sexy librarian look" (my emphasis)! Oh dear...

Is putting Sarah Palin on the Republican ticket a stroke of genius or a total blunder? I have to say that, when the gloss wears off (and it will, as this interminable election trundles on towards the 4th of November), I think it will look increasingly like a serious error of judgement by the Republican Presidential Candidate. Oh yes (and I've been waiting all campaign to say this), the Sarah Palin decision looks like McCain has had his chips...

Bob - You'll no doubt now have a better idea about what to think of Palin following the allegations (in the Guardian, for example) that she tried to sack the town librarian for refusing to censor her collections.
