Welcome to CILIP Communities Login   Register | Help

Work has now started on the 2008 conference programme and key themes are currently being identified. The BIC/CILIP RFID in Libraries Group is providing specialist input, but all members of the UK library community are welcome to contribute. Your ideas and suggestions will be most welcome.

Library user experiences of RFID is one subject being explored, along with some more technical issues plus the continuing need to find ways of effectively integrating RFID and Library Management Systems so public and academic libraries extract maximum value from their investments.

Submit your programme ideas by posting them to this conference Blog.

A dedicated website has been launched to support the 2008 conference with information on all aspects of the event. Further details will be added as support and interest grows over the next few months. The site already features overall conference sponsor 3M Library Services, which has confirmed it will continue its support

2CQR has also agreed to once again be a Silver Sponsor with an RFID Demonstration at this year's event, and Intellident will present an RFID Demonstration and also sponsor the Delegate Badge Lanyards, as in 2007.

Other sponsors are currently considering their involvement, and the BIC/CILIP RFID in Libraries Group has agreed to give its full support to the conference and the associated RFID in Libraries Group Award

Intellident has confirmed it will once again sponsor CILIP's RFID in Libraries Conference.  As in 2007, the company will be a Silver Sponsor and demonstrate its latest developments to delegates at the event. In addition, it will sponsor the Delegate Badge Lanyards to further enhance its on-site profile. Intellident has consistently supported the conference since its inception in 2005.

Intellident is one of Europe’s leading providers of control systems based on RFID and barcode-technologies, and its experience extends across multiple vertical markets and solutions. It also provide a specialised barcode print, apply and verification package, a sophisticated document management solution, and RFID-based self-service solutions to the public, academic and private library sectors.

CILIP's fourth RFID in Libraries Conference will be presented on Thursday 13 November 2008 at the QEII Conference Centre in London. The same two floors as used for this year's highly-successful event have been secured, and further details of the event will be posted to a new RFID in Libraries 2008 website to be launched in the New Year.
